Answers for Every Situation

What do I believe?

Where do I look for answers for every situation? Lots of things are certainly competing for my focus.  My News notifications have had the same theme for weeks… Coronavirus this and for Coronavirus that. “Stay home… wear a mask at the store…. “which I did this weekend and it felt awkward and hilarious and I felt so self-conscience and silly, even though pretty much everyone else was doing the same thing.

On my very limited trips out my doors I have been choosing to wear things that could make people smile. I have a sweater that has a sunrise on it, another top that says “SHINE BRIGHT”. I’ve always been the person who will make eye contact, smile and say hi. It’s actually one of my favorite things to do at a grocery store leading up to Thanksgiving. Everyone gets so stressed out. So I wore my “mask” on Saturday  (see photo for entertainment.) and I smiled at people… with my eyes, I said hi and if they wanted to say more, I had a casual conversation. Sure, this is the extrovert in me – who lives alone right now and has many words ready to be released on the world! But also, this is part of doing what the Bible says to do

Let your light so shine before all men that

they may see your good works and glorify

your Father in Heaven. Matthew 5:16

The Bible has Answers for EVERY SITUATION

I believe that the Bible has all the answers for every situation. In this time, I believe it is important to yield to the government’s authority and honor what they have mandated. I also believe we should use wisdom in every interaction with others, we should check in with the Spirit, such as, which store should I go to, what time should I go?  And really, we should ALWAYS be checking in with the Holy Spirit, he always leads us with peace. If we follow it I’m sure it will lead to good things in our own lives and opportunity’s to be a blessing to others. Most importantly, though, I know, based on the Word that nothing will harm me. I have Jesus in me. I am covered by His blood. Nothing formed against me shall prosper. In fact, I transfer HEALING wherever I go. It didn’t take the COVID-19 for me to build up my faith about this.

A Trip to South Africa

Several years ago, I had the opportunity to go to South Africa with my church on a mission trip. The focus of the trip was to minister to children in a fun camp program called JUMP! Kids in an area called Kaamati Puit (definitely the wrong spelling). God supernaturally provided all the money for me to go on that trip!

In the days leading up to the trip, I was praying about it. I had learned some facts about the area, the place where we were staying was right by Kruger National Park, which is the size of Great Britain but there was literally a fence line not too far away. I also learned the statistic that one in three in that region had AIDS. Heartbreaking. Fear started to grip me, even if it was not logical, I worried that they could transfer that to me if they touched me. I have enough understanding of how AIDS is transmitted to know, that is not realistic, but it was trying to get on me. So- I prayed about it. I felt like God reminded about the scriptures that tell us to lay hands on the sick, and that everything you put your hand to prospers. I know that second scripture applies to work, but I was going to be there doing work. I remembered that “no evil or weapon formed against me shall prosper”. I built up my faith on those things and trusted God that I would be covered and actually carry healing in my hands and through my touch.

A few months later it was finally time for the trip! We were not assigned any specific roles at the camp until we got there. So here I am – full of faith, believing that not only am I protected and covered but that I transmit healing through my hands, that I carry the Holy Spirit and that everything I put my hand to prospers. I didn’t really talk about to anyone either. It was just in my heart.

So what was my role in working with those kids?

I am still amazed and how God worked all of this out. I ended up being in charge of counting cycles of kids that went into lunch! I stood at the door to the lunch room. And – guess what – I physically touched basically every kid that attended that camp. Either their head, or their shoulder, or a high five. I smiled at them while counting. I had a blast, they were amazing. I got to look into all of those eyes and touch them, I got to transfer the healing power of God onto them.

So yeah, COVID-19 quarantine is a wild ride, and we should use wisdom and yield to authority but also – walk in the awareness of what you have according to the Word. Jesus is the answer for this situation and I carry His life and power wherever I go.

How do we wait?

We acknowledge God is at work in our story. We yield to faith and not worry and fear. We see that the Word has answers for every situation that we face – He is working it all out for our good.
