A poem from #quarantine @libbyfasnacht
I posted this through my Instagram account today. It seemed to resonate with so many. The waiting is always a process. We’re always one day closer to the fulfillment of God’s plan for our lives, to the answer our prayers.
It’s April 4, 2020 and our world is facing a very odd time of #socialdistancing and #quarantine to fight the spread of COVID-19, the corona virus. I love that there has been a turn in households toward simplicity and prayer, and togetherness. It’s amazing, and it’s hard because right now, I live alone.
This week I have really been choosing NOT to compare myself. I have had very low moments and very high moments. This morning when I was writing in my journal the following poem came up in my heart. The first line that came to me was, “It only ends with me wishing I was you and you wishing you were me.” It just felt like an important message to share here on thewaitinglife.com. Because the question I am working to answer is HOW TO WAIT. Here’s my “No Title – Poem from #quarantine”.

(Poem from #quarantine by @libbyfasnacht)
Here’s a list of things that I got to do today…
yoga,
some reading,
and reorganizing my kitchen.
Maybe you feel bummed because you wish that you could have done all of this too.
But your house is full of people
with voices
and moments
and mess.
And in my house it’s just me
with quiet
and projects
and sometimes
too much rest.
Each kind of looks like a fairy tale to the other, you see.
It only ends with me wishing I was you and you wishing you were me.
The grass is always greener across the social media fence.
Just thinking – we should take a moment and realize that
we BOTH have a blessing in this.
So don’t compare yourselves,
take a deep breath,
You can do this
be grateful for what you’ve got.
..because in this moment, each of us has a lot.
HOW DO WE WAIT:
We do not compare ourselves with others, we look to God, do focus on doing the good thing that is in our hand. God’s got us in this.
Galatians 6:4-6 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
4 Don’t compare yourself with others. Just look at your own work to see if you have done anything to be proud of. 5 You must each accept the responsibilities that are yours.
Never Stop Doing Good
6 Whoever is being taught God’s word should share the good things they have with the one who is teaching them.
